The comb foundation mill is used for embossing plain and pure beeswax sheets with the exact cell outlin of the honeycomb for fixing into the frames of a beehive. Such embossed comb foundation sheet from a base for the bees to build up new combs. This helps to conserve the energies of bees to secure drawn-out combs of adequate cell-size duly related to natural body-size of local races of bees for.
The main structure of the comb foundation mill consist of two rollers fixed horizontally close together in a cast iron frame. The surface of these rollers has a honeycomb cell design which embosses the comb foundation sheet.

Technical Process of comb foudation production line
Making comb foundation is a complicated task, requiring not only skill and experience but also a costly foundation mill, preferably of the type composed of two precision-engraved rollers, used by manufacturers. While a few large-scale beekeeping operators and cooperatives may be in a position to own such a mill, most beekeepers find it more convenient to buy their foundation ready-made.

Processing:Â All of the beeswax that we use in comb foundation manufacture is first heated to approx 110 deg CÂ before being micro filtered to remove all dross and moisture.
The filtered liquid beeswax then passes to the “Weed Processsheeting machine. This converts the beeswax from a liquid state into a continuous flat sheet and is one of the secrets of making high quality comb foundation. During this process, the beeswax gains greatly in elasticity and strength to the point where a piece of cold comb foundation can be scrunched up and then flattened out again without breaking.
The rolls of sheet then pass to the automatic milling machine. The pure beeswax sheet passes between two precision engraved rollers which imprint the pattern onto the beeswax.Â
The continuous sheet is then cut to width before being cut to length. The finished sheets are then weighed before being packed in cartons.
Throughout the process, stringent quality control checks are continuously carried out.
The life of our Comb Foundation if stored in its original packaging in dry conditions is indefinite. Because of its purity, it is not attacked by wax moths.
